Bezel
|
For some reason I had a really hard time figuring out what other people did for a bezel. I tried to
find a piece of card stock paper big enough for my bezel, but the biggest size I could find was 20" x 30"
and I needed 23" x 23". My first pass I bought two pieces of paper and tried to tape them together. I was
tired and actually content with this even though it looked like crap. Throughout the whole process of building
the cabinet my wife was very understanding. After seeing my "bezel" she kindly told me what I already knew, it
looked like crap. Back to the drawing board. I ended up getting a can of black glossy spray paint and masked
off the window for the monitor and painted the inside of the arcade cabinet's glass. After about 6 coats of
spray paint I pulled of the mask and was surprised that it looks awesome. I imagine a bunch of other people
have done this as well and it's probably so obvious that nobody ever mentions this method. Either way, I highly
recommend using spray paint. It's easy, fast and looks good. If you know of other ways to finish the bezel I
would be interested in hearing them because I had a very difficult time coming up with a solution for this part
of the project.
